Animated GIFs

Are there any good FREE image editors that can convert some bmps to one gif that is animated?

I’ve tried everything, but the only one I found was in DOS… DOS to me is like nitro glycerine being handled by a hobo, with my computer being the poor, unfortunate hobo…

I want to make sprites, but I also want them to be animated.

Unfreez is the only free animator I know of and it works pretty good, you have to save each seperate sprite as a gif and then animate it, but still it makes nice animations and lets you do loop animations…
