Metroid Shadows

custom looks better but honestly, for a fangame, i would use ripped unless the game is pretty small… or else, it will take years (just look at p2d xD)

Yeah, I need time to work on every single other thing that’s left. If anyone wants to do something on the list (In the first post) feel free, 'cause that’ll make this so much easier.

Just got a PM from Saber that says he can start the engine next Wednesday. Now is the time for sprites.

If anyone wants to try the cave background, that would be much appreciated.

Don’t worry about it too much :stuck_out_tongue:. I don’t need any environment-related sprites or backgrounds to develop the engine (at least, not the parts related to gameplay as Samus.) All I really need are the sprites of Samus’ actions, which you have provided, and the morphball, which you have also provided. After that I’ll need some basic beam graphics, which are also done already. If anything, I guess the next most necessary graphics to the engine would be anything in/on the HUD.

I must warn you that, though I’m very quite experienced with GM and scripting in GML, I have little experience working as a specialist in a team, let alone working n a team at all. I am used to playing all parts, from graphic and music creation to level design and programming. Having most of those taken care of for me, and focusing solely on scripting (which I enjoy most) will be a bit different. I’ve got some minor experience with this thanks to the p2d open source engine, but right now, I think the engine for Shadows will be relatively much more intensive.

What’s my point? I dunno really xD. I’m just saying that I don’t yet have a good gauge on how long things will take me to get done and etc.

Ah, and in the way of sprites: Animated GIFs (or other multi-framed image formats) for each set of animations (I.E. running left) would be very nice. I find that I always have to do very tedious pixel-by-pixel position adjustments in each frame of every animation to make it look right, when I pull the frames off of sprite sheets. IMO this shouldn’t be the job of the programmer >_> but if I must then I shall, heheh.

Take as much time as you need. I’d rather have it be really good than get finished quickly, and I’ll send you the GIFs as soon as I can.

Awesome, thanks much! It’ll be so nice not to have to piddle with such minor details.

I’ve gotta say, looks amazing. I have an alpha test of my SMREngine that includes Grapple Beam, Spider Ball, and mixing the beams. If you’re interested, PM me.

epic creepy =D

Yeah, those things’ll pop out from caves and stuff. Used the palette from that swinging enemy you made

Teeth animate quite well I think…

i thought the colors looked farmiliar

the shading on the main color looks bad to me.

So, have you checked out the engine?

make your own phlake!

Yep.

Saber Mage is making or will start in the near future an engine from scratch, specifically designed for this game and these sprites

How do you get the topic things in an invision free forum to show up? It says “Some required files are missing”

El Forum

But I don’t know how to change the image by the topic things, like the helmets here

It’s been a while and I’ve finally gotten something done again. I have no idea what’s going on with the engine right now but I’m hoping it’s doing well. Frozen enemies have been done, I’ve gotten some edited backgrounds from ZM and Fusion, the font is done, the green outline of Samus for the status screen is done, the bomb and missile etc. blocks are done, all the beams are getting close, and I’ll try to find out what’s happening with the enginefrom Saber.

little rocket men SUCKED to get…
yet in a most amusing way…

i called the gnome “My Love”

i’d lose it for a bit and be like “WHERE ARE YOU MY LOVE?!”

Yeah, I think I’m gonna have to play it again without the gnome. It’ll seem so easy.
